Two hero cops honored today!

It was my honor today (May 16, 2025) to award these two brave police officers with Whiskers Watson Animal Lifesaving Hero Award medals and certificates. On January 21, 2025, Officer Salvatore Initi (left) and Sergeant John Colucci (right) of the Montgomery Township Police Department, New Jersey, risked their lives to save the life of a Golden Retriever dog that fell through the ice into the frigid waters of a pond. Their actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of police service and kindness towards animals and reflect great credit upon themselves, their community, and the Montgomery Township Police Department.

The Whiskers Watson Animal Hero Awards foundation was founded this year (2025) in memory of my late beloved cat Whiskers, the best cat in the world. Its purpose is to recognize brave humans who risk their lives to rescue animals in distress.
